Background

Federation of Nepal Printers’ Association

The Federation of Nepal Printers’ Association (FNPA) is the only umbrella organization representing printing industries and allied corporate houses across Nepal. According to the FNPA charter, the federation includes:

  • District-level printers’ associations
  • Representative associations of printing entrepreneurs from various districts
  • Related corporate houses

History

FNPA has a proud legacy:

  • Founded as Nepal Printers’ Association (NPA): 20 September 1978, under the leadership of senior printing entrepreneur and writer Govinda Bahadur Malla Gothale
  • Renamed FNPA: 13 January 2013, following a national convention on 4 February 2012
  • National Convention: Hundreds of printing entrepreneurs from across Nepal unanimously endorsed the transformation from NPA to FNPA

Role

Headquartered in Kathmandu and registered under the Institution Registration Act of the Government of Nepal, FNPA serves as the organized representative body of printing entrepreneurs nationwide. The federation:

  • Advocates for the interests of the private sector
  • Promotes socio-economic development through private-sector-led growth
  • Represents printing entrepreneurs across Nepal through district-level associations

Endeavors

FNPA is committed to strengthening the printing industry and supporting its members by:

  • Enhancing business productivity and ensuring quality standards
  • Exploring domestic and international markets
  • Promoting Nepalese printing products and services globally
  • Collaborating with governmental and non-governmental organizations to support entrepreneurs, staff, and technicians

Objectives

FNPA works to advance Nepal’s printing industry by bringing together entrepreneurs and supporting their collective growth. We aim to:

  • Unite and represent printing professionals and businesses at the local, national, and international levels.

  • Promote skills and knowledge by encouraging education, modern technology, and best practices within the printing sector.

  • Support industry development through the establishment of structures like a Printing Council, technical schools, and printing communities.

  • Encourage innovation by introducing new technologies, products, and methods to improve quality and competitiveness.

  • Foster partnerships with government, organizations, and industry stakeholders to ensure coordinated efforts and policy support.

  • Preserve industry heritage by documenting and sharing the history and achievements of Nepalese printing.

  • Share insights and learning through publications, events, and information networks.
